There will always be a piece of South Korea in our hearts. We are thinking about friends who are returning to TCIS this week, and miss not having to hop on a plane to join that wonderful community again.
As we look ahead to rebuilding our lives in a different location, culture, school, and community, we anticipate many challenges--language, safety, new curriculum, cultural norms, and much more. But as we have already seen this summer, our God is bigger than those challenges. He has already provided some comfort with another Raleigh native we met via email who will be joining us this year, not to mention one who has been there for two years already. He also oversaw the processing of our visas, which was very difficult to get. Nothing like waiting til the day before we leave to receive them.
Getting on that plane tomorrow will be bittersweet. Korea's been our home for seven years. But as we were reminded on Sunday from the book of Genesis and the story of Noah and the flood, God is in the business of re-creating. He is "re-creating" our lives to serve HIM and HIS people again. Ecuador needs us, just as we need it. We are not sure how God will use our family in this wonderful place, but if it's anything like our experience in Korea, there is no doubt that his joy for us will overshadow any hesitancy, concern, or doubt we may be feeling right now.
